I’m Mrs. Jessie Miller, the 6th grade teacher at JCCS. My husband, Jerry, and I have been married since 1998. We were both raised in Brooke County, West Virginia, where we still reside with our daughters, Allison and Hannah, both of whom attend JCCS. I am also blessed with a wonderful church family at the Wellsburg First Church of God.
I attended West Virginia Northern Community College and Ashford University (formerly Mount St. Clare College), where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA in Education and a minor in Psychology.
Before coming to JCCS, I worked in the public school system as an interpreter for the deaf and teacher’s aide. Although I truly loved my job, I was blessed to have been able to be a stay-at-home mom until 2011. That is when God led our family to JCCS.
I truly believe one of the greatest assets of JCCS is our Christ-centered staff. I am a huge proponent of the value of Christian instruction. Some of my classroom objectives in 6th grade are to help students realize their full potential as learners, to strive for excellence (not perfection) in their academics, and to help foster a lifelong desire to learn (and not only from books). I also aspire to help students understand that everything we do is to be done to bring God glory, as well as to realize the need that we have to daily walk with Christ.
One of the greatest privileges of teaching at JCCS is having the opportunity to share with my students how God, in His gracious mercy, has loved me, healed me, guided me, lovingly reprimanded me (yes, I share that too), redeemed me, forgiven me, and continues to sanctify me….and that He can do the same for them.
