High School Community Service Hours Information
Start recording your volunteer service hours to work toward earning your Service Letter or Academic Letter. Record your summer hours now before you forget them!
To Earn a Letter in Service:
- A student must complete 100 hours of community service per school year, 50 hours of which may be done in school, and at least a minimum of 50 hours which must be done in the greater community.
- A student must maintain at least an 80% GPA along with completed hours to receive this letter.
To Earn a Letter in Academics:
- A student must maintain a minimum of a 96% GPA for the year.
- A student must complete 40 hours of community service, 20 hours of which may be done in school, and at least a minimum of 20 hours which must be done in the greater community.
Community service must be completed within the timeframe of May 1 – April 30.
Acceptable forms of community service would include things such as:
(Helping a neighbor, nursing home, short-term mission trip, service projects through church, church nursery, choir, VBS, volunteer babysitting, helping a family in need, community service days, Boy/Girl Scout service projects, Urban Mission, AIM Pregnancy Center, Habitat for Humanity)
