Hello, my name is Mrs. Tina Bortner and it is my privilege to be teaching science courses at Jefferson County Christian School.

I believe that the foundation of any curriculum should consist of “back to basics” courses and character development based on traditional values and Christian beliefs. It is my hope, as a teacher, that my students will gain the ability to perform higher order thinking skills, use prior knowledge and experiences to solve new problems, develop a tolerance for individual viewpoints and social differences, apply their knowledge to deal with day-to-day and real world situations, and be active, contributing members of society. It is my prayer, as a teacher, that my students’ educational experience will include reflections of Christ-like behavior and spiritual affirmation.

I received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Wheeling College and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Marshall University. My background includes employment as an analytical chemist, a science teacher and an educational technician.

I live in Steubenville with my husband Pat and son Patrick. Our family also includes some animal members: Peanut, Duke, Tiger and Venom. My family attends Wintersville United Methodist Church where we enjoy worship and fellowship.

I feel very blessed to have been presented with the opportunity to instruct your children……….GOD IS GOOD.
