My name is Julie Lewis, and I’m so blessed to be a part of JCCS. This is my 8th year at JCCS. I’ve been teaching for a total of 17 years. I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from West Liberty University and my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix. I have been married to my husband, Steve, for 18 years, and we have three children, all of whom attend JCCS. I’m a proud JCCS graduate (class of ’99), and my husband and I are thrilled that our kids get to experience this amazing school that teaches a Biblical worldview. JCCS holds a special place in my heart, and it is here where my walk with Christ began and grew. JCCS laid a solid, academic, and Christ-centered foundation in my life, and for that, I am truly grateful. My hobby right now is just being a mom to kids who are active in sports. I enjoy watching and cheering them on.

My name is Ashley Conn, and I am honored to serve as both a teacher and a parent in the JCCS community. From a young age, I knew God was calling me to work with children. My life has always centered around nurturing and teaching—whether volunteering in my church nursery, babysitting, attending our local vocational school for Early Childhood, or directing multiple years of Vacation Bible School.
I earned my Early Childhood Education degree from Eastern Gateway Community College in 2015 and began my professional career at Wintersville Head Start shortly after graduation. After welcoming my first son, I stepped away to answer the call to raise my children full time, at home. When my son became school-aged, we knew that we wanted him to be in a school where he could freely learn about Jesus, so naturally, JCCS was our first choice. I got connected with the Parent/Teacher Fellowship group, which deepened my desire to return to the classroom.
I love being part of helping children build strong character traits at a young age, keeping Jesus at the center of all we do, and guiding them as they begin their academic journey. I’m excited for all that God has in store for this school year.

I have taught for a total of 12 years, five of those years here at JCCS. I have been married for 32 years and my husband and I have two amazing sons. I have a B.A. in English from Rutgers University and a M.A. in English Teaching from Bowling Green State University.
My dad is a pastor and I grew up in a stable Christian household. I was very active in church and read my Bible all the time. As a matter of fact, my first paying job, which I started in the second grade, was reading the book of Proverbs. My father offered to pay my brother and I $0.25 for each Proverb we memorized! Still, as I got older, I battled insecurity and depression. While I continued to attend church, I inwardly questioned my faith. However, when I turned 19, I finally made a decision to fully commit my life to the Lord because, deep down, I had always known He was the answer to all of my problems.
Outside of school, my hobbies include reading, music and creating fashion content for women who want to dress modestly.

She holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education, as well as a minor in Psychology from West Liberty University. Additionally, Amanda has completed coursework in multi-category special education, demonstrating her commitment to meeting the diverse needs of all students. With 13 years of experience as a substitute teacher during her children's formative years, she developed a deep understanding of classroom dynamics and effective teaching strategies. Since coming to JCCS in 2021, Amanda has served as a full-time classroom teacher, where she has been able to apply her expertise in creating inclusive and engaging learning environments for her students. Her passion for nurturing young minds and supporting their development is evident in her approach to education.
Growing up in a household centered around God, Amanda found Jesus as her Savior as a teenager. As a mother of three, she is devoted to instilling faith in her children. With a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Ohio University and an Ohio License as an Intervention Specialist, I bring over three decades of teaching experience to my role at JCCS. Having taught both Special Education and Art across K-12 levels within the Harrison Hills City School District for 30 years, I am well-versed in catering to diverse educational needs. Currently, in my fifth year as an Intervention Specialist at JCCS, I am deeply committed to guiding students toward success. Beyond academics, my personal testimony reflects my faith and values, drawing inspiration from Colossians 1:13-14. My dedication to JCCS stems from a genuine love for the work and the community it serves.

I am beyond thrilled to begin my first year teaching third grade! Before stepping into my own classroom, I spent four wonderful years as a kindergarten educational aide, where I discovered my love for helping young learners grow and shine. During that time, I earned my Bachelor of Science in American Education Studies from Franklin University, and am passionate about creating a welcoming, fun, and supportive space where every child can feel confident in who God created them to be.
Among various roles outside the classroom, my husband and I serve as youth directors at Harrison Hills Church. Together we are growing daily in our personal relationship with the Lord, all while helping guide and encourage young believers to do the same! We love this life of ours and are beyond thankful to be walking in our God-given callings. For fun, we share a goal of visiting all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums. So far, we’ve checked 17 off the list and we cannot wait for our next adventure!

With a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Bethany College, a Master's in Education from Franciscan University, and another Master's in Mathematics from Kent State University, coupled with 23 years of experience in the field, including 10 years at JCCS, I bring a wealth of academic and professional expertise to my role. Additionally, my personal beliefs and interests greatly influence my teaching approach. Inspired by the hymn "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," I strive to instill in my students the importance of faith and trust, reminding them that God's plan is one of peace. Moreover, I am an avid fan of Star Trek, staunchly believing it to be superior to Star Wars, and I welcome any spirited debates on the matter.

I was born in Jackson, Mississippi, and spent the majority of my childhood and early adult life in the state of Mississippi. It was there that I truly fell in love with the study of American History while surrounded by numerous historical sites and having parents who encouraged my interest in the subject. I was blessed to have a Mom who made certain my sister and I were involved in church and learned about the Lord. I made the decision to follow Christ and was baptized as a 12-year-old. By God’s grace and mercy, I recommitted my life to Christ as an adult and young father after a time away from a faithful walk with the Lord. My wife, Kathy, and I were married in 1991 and Christian Schools have been an important part of the life of our family since our oldest son, who is now 30 years old, enrolled in K-4 at Carroll County Christian Academy.
The path leading to teaching in Christian Schools went through service in the Marine Corps Reserves, obtaining a degree in Social Studies Education from Mississippi College, and working 14 years as a truck driver and warehouse laborer for New Castle Battery and NAPA Auto Parts. The Lord opened the door for me to teach in the summer of 2007. Both my wife and I served at Heritage Christian School in Canton, Ohio, from 2007 to 2018. It was there that three of our four sons graduated from high school. We began serving at JCCS in 2018. I served for 16 years as the minister (in a bi-vocational capacity) for the Minerva Church of Christ (a small congregation in Minerva, Ohio). Most recently, my wife and I have been worshiping with the First Christian Church in Malvern, Ohio. We are blessed with 4 sons: Donavon, Nathan, Andrew, and Kenneth. Three of our sons are married to wonderful young ladies. We have been blessed with two grandbabies – Peighton Elaine and Elisha. Our son Andrew is unmarried and currently serving on active duty as an officer in the United States Marine Corps.

I am so blessed to be part of the JCCS community! I received my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Messiah College and have 29 years of teaching experience, primarily in home-school and Christian school settings. I've been with JCCS since 2013. My husband, David, and I have been married for 39 years and have 4 sons, 3 daughters-in-law, and 7 grandchildren. I enjoy travelling to visit our far-flung family, reading, and singing.
I am thankful to have been raised in a Christian home and accepted Jesus Christ as my personal savior at the age of 9. Through the years, God has brought people and circumstances into my life that have challenged and grown my faith. Christ has been faithfully perfecting my character to become more like Him, and I am grateful that He counts me worthy to share His life not only with the little ones in our classroom, but also with their parents.

Maggie Rogers is a dedicated and passionate teacher aide with a heart for young learners. She joined Jefferson County Christian School in 2022 where she has gained experience working in various classroom settings, ranging from preschool to junior high. Growing up in a Christian household, Maggie’s love for teaching and serving others was instilled in her at a young age. Prior to working at JCCS, Maggie taught horseback riding lessons, was the Sunday school leader at her church, and spent her summers as a Christian camp counselor. Maggie is definitely a cat person, though anything found in nature is sure to pique her interest. She has a passion for behavioral psychology and explores her creativity through various mediums. With a knack for antiquing and thrifting, she is always on the lookout for her newest trinket or treasure! As long as Maggie has some good tunes on and Jesus by her side, she is ready to tackle any obstacle in her way!

With a BA in Elementary Education K-8 and an MA in Reading and Literacy, coupled with over 20 years of teaching experience, including four years at JCCS spanning from 2013-2016 and 2023, I bring a wealth of expertise to the classroom. My journey is guided by faith, as reflected in the sentiment, "I once was lost, but now I’m found; was blind, but now I see. Thank you, Jesus, my Lord and my Savior." Beyond academia, I lead a fulfilling personal life, married with two adult daughters and residing on a farm with an array of beloved pets, including cows, sheep, a goat, chickens, dogs, barn cats, and even a cherished possum. My passions extend to studying and teaching the Bible, alongside a vegetarian lifestyle, a love for the sun, and a commitment to minimalism. Furthermore, I serve as the International Director of 91four, a primary and vocational school in Uganda, Africa.

Growing up in a Christian household where my dad served as the pastor, faith has always been at the core of my life. I'm a proud graduate of JCCS, having spent my entire academic journey there from Pre-K to graduation in 2009. Following that, I pursued a Bachelor's degree in Health, Fitness, and Recreation from Bob Jones University in 2013. After some time working with inner-city teens in Indianapolis, I found my way back to JCCS in 2015, where I've spent the past nine years teaching and coaching soccer and basketball. Even during the Browns' less-than-stellar seasons, you could always find me cheering them on. In 2023, I embraced a new calling as the Youth Pastor at Mercy Baptist Church, a position I hold dear. In 2018, I tied the knot with my wonderful wife, and together we welcomed our son, Jason, into the world on March 24, 2022. I count myself incredibly blessed; the Lord has truly smiled upon me.

With a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management, coupled with five years of teaching experience at JCCS, I bring a diverse skill set and a passion for both education and community involvement. My journey in faith began when I embraced Christianity in the 7th grade, and it flourished during my time at a Christian college where I interned at a youth center in Indianapolis, an experience that led me to meet my husband. His encouragement played a significant role in my pursuit of God's calling to ministry. Born and raised in Hawaii, I have always held a deep love for sports, further fueling my commitment to integrating faith, education, and community service in my professional endeavors.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in English Literature with a minor in French Language and Culture. I have a master's degree in Education as a Reading Specialist. I have 4 years of teaching experience.
I have been teaching at JCCS for the last 2 years. JCCS has been an incredible blessing to me for more reasons than one. As I underwent my battle with cancer, this school truly showed me the love of Jesus. Through my co-workers, students, and parents of students, I was shown such care, love, and kindness that it was overwhelming. As far as testimony goes, I was brought up by my parents in the faith. They lead me to become the believer I am today by instilling Christian values within me. However, my faith did not become my own until I was an adult. In college, I was part of a Christian outreach program that not only grew my faith but tested it. Through those experiences, my faith was transformed from being something I grew up believing to a true belief that I felt personally. Then, through my recent battle with cancer, my faith has only strengthened. God's sovereignty, love, and healing power have changed my life in indescribable ways.
I enjoy spending time with my husband, usually doing some sort of outdoor activity, which includes tennis, basketball, hiking, skateboarding, and kayaking. I also love to read recreationally and write creatively in my free time.

Heather Wood is the 4th, 5th, and 6th math and science teacher. Currently she is pursuing a Master's degree in Special Education. She has experience teaching children from Toddler-High School level in public and private school as well as homeschooling her own children. Hi!
My name is Rachel Wood and I am an alumni of JCCS (Class of 2009). I currently have three children, two of whom attend the school. My husband and I live on a small homestead and raise chickens. We are active in our church, Finley Methodist as well as with our families. I have been teaching for over 12 years and this is my third year at JCCS. I am passionate about learning, Jesus, home remedies, and motherhood. I feel like this is the best school east of the Mississippi and we are immensely blessed to have this school. I look forward to all that the Lord has in store.
Operations Manager

I remember telling the guidance counselor at my middle school in Shreveport, Louisiana, that all I wanted to be was a mother. I graduated from high school and moved on to graduate from Northeast Louisiana University with a BBA degree in Accounting. While in college, I was blessed to meet my husband, who also valued having a family with a wife who enjoyed being a stay-at-home mother. I was baptized when I was nine years old, but I give credit to my husband and his spiritual leadership and guidance in my growth in knowledge of the Bible and faith in Christ.
God blessed us with four sons, and I was able to be a stay-at-home mom with all of them. When the youngest was ready for kindergarten, God opened the door for both my husband and I to work at a Christian school in Canton, Ohio, where all the boys were going to be attending. I held various positions in my eleven years at Heritage Christian School, from recess monitor to business manager. In 2018, God closed the doors for my husband and I at Heritage but opened the door for both of us at JCCS. My husband and I have been married for 34 years and are grateful for the three daughters-in-law and five grandchildren who have joined our family.
What do I enjoy doing with my free time? You better believe it is being a Grammy to Eli, Peighton, KJ, Savannah and Emmy!
Staff

I serve as the School Resource Officer and also coach our softball team—two roles that allow me to invest directly in the safety, growth, and encouragement of our students. I am a Christian, a proud father of four, and blessed that three of my children have either attended or are currently attending Jefferson County Christian School.
With 30 years in law enforcement, I’ve had the opportunity to serve in a wide range of roles including patrol, K-9, drug task force, and investigations. I also had the privilege of serving as the Chief of Police in Bergholz for seven years. Out of all the positions I’ve held throughout my career, this one at JCCS is by far my favorite. Every day I am grateful for the opportunity to serve, protect, and mentor the students and families of this community.
Matthew 5:9
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the sons of God.

I’m in my 3rd year of service at JCCS. I love serving the students and staff here at JCCS as the security enforcement officer, in the medical office, and as the archery head coach.
I started my walk with the Lord at the age of 13. I was called into ministry in 2001. I went to Bible college and graduated in 2004. I’m currently serving as the Pastor of the Toronto Wesleyan Church. I have been involved with church security for about 13 years now. I also teach concealed carry classes and STOP THE BLEED® courses.
I like to spend time with my family, my dog Daisy and with my wife of 39 years. I enjoy archery, shooting, hunting, and fishing.
Some of my favorite verses are John 15:13, Luke 22:36, Phil. 4:13, Phil. 4:6-7.

I started at JCCS in April 2013 as the Accounting Clerk. I feel very blessed to be part of this school family. I started here and quickly came to understand how important what JCCS offers is to so many students and families. I have had the honor of working with many dedicated teachers and staff members over the years and look forward to the continued success of the school.
I received my Associate’s Degree from Bradford Business School in Pittsburgh, PA, and then went on to earn my Bachelor’s Degree from Franciscan University in Steubenville, OH.
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

Since being a 2021 JCCS graduate and beginning my journey here at Jefferson County Christian School in the 5th grade, I have experienced growth in both my faith and education beyond what I could have imagined. Coming from a Christian home, I was raised on the truth that comes with knowing Jesus as my Lord and Savior. As I grew up, I embraced the Christian faith as my own personal belief, and the older I get, the more I recognize and appreciate the world God created.
Since graduating high school, I have been actively involved with coaching volleyball for the school and working in the JCCS athletic department. I also recently graduated from Liberty University with a degree in Business Administration, which has equipped me with skills I use daily to help others. In September of 2024, I married my husband, who I was blessed to meet during my time at JCCS. In my free time, I enjoy running my floral business, which allows me to combine creativity with service. Balancing a dynamic lifestyle, I find joy in staying active and occupied, but I also cherish weekends as opportunities to unwind and make memories with friends and family.

I am a speech-language pathologist who has worked in a variety of settings with children and adults. I earned my master’s degree from West Virginia University. I have 3 young children and am from the Ohio Valley. I have prayed about an opportunity to better serve my community. This led me to start Hometown Speech Therapy, LLC. The journey has brought me to the
Jefferson County Christian School. It is a blessing to work with the students and staff at JCCS.

Blessings to all! My name is Susan Potvin, and I am your School Counselor. What does a School Counselor do all day? My job is to help all students achieve academic excellence and close any achievement gaps. I do this by working with our students to gain the skills they need to meet their academic challenges. I am here to help them grow in personal and social development and to develop a career path for their future success. I work to help eliminate any barriers that keep them from achieving all the Lord has created them to be. I am here to be a resource to our families and a collaborative partner with our teaching staff.
Last year, Memphis, 3-year-old black Labrador from Canine Companions joined our Guidance staff. He has been a joy to the students and staff. He has been tremendous in providing support in some specific needed areas of helping students grow in confidence, communication skills, and lessen anxiety and stress. Our theme verse for the Guidance Department is Jeremiah 29:11-12, “For I know well the plans I have in mind for you says the Lord, plans for your welfare, not for woe! Plans to give you a future full of hope.”
What hope and blessings the Lord has for our students! What an honor to be able to assist them in this process. It has been a great blessing to have been involved with JCCS since 1995 when my children began attending here. I began by volunteering (as we all do!) and then worked as the part-time guidance counselor for the next 11 years. I was away from JCCS for two years, running an afterschool program for Harrison County. I am grateful for the experience I gained there and I am thrilled to be back full-time at JCCS.
I am a Licensed Professional School Counselor, having obtained Masters of Education in School Counseling at Liberty University. I have an undergraduate degree in Mental Health and Theology from Franciscan University. I am grateful for my wonderful husband of 42 years, our 4 children, and two grandchildren. I am honored and privileged to serve our students and families here at JCCS along with a tremendously faithful staff of brothers and sisters in Christ. My office is always open, and you may call me anytime. It is not only my job to serve you, it is also my heart’s desire.

Years of service at JCCS: 4 years
Raised in church and deeply devoted to God, I’ve learned that faith grows through both challenges and blessings. My journey includes a divorce and navigating life with two wonderful kids, a path that taught me resilience, grace, and the power of community.
Eleven years ago, I married my husband Chad, and we built a loving, blended family. He adopted my children, and in 2020 we experienced a profound turning point—our family was saved, and we chose to surrender our lives to God and be baptized together!
I’m incredibly proud of all of my children: my “bonus” daughter, Alexis, who was recently married to our now son-in-law Connor; my daughter, Cassandra, is a 2024 graduate of JCCS and is currently attending Malone University; and my son, Brian, is a Junior here at JCCS.
In my role as the school secretary, I am grateful to support our staff and to witness the growth of every student—not only in academics but also in their faith. It is a joy to build relationships with families and to contribute to a nurturing environment where children thrive as learners and as Christians.
